To All WCA Members and Clown Friends:
These first three months in office as your WCA President have been busy ones for me. I first of all want to thank all members who have contacted me sharing thoughts and ideas regarding various clowning topics. I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to talk and communicate by e-mail with many of you. We’ve covered topics ranging from clowning for hospice patients to how we take care of our clown nose. When it’s a phone call they’re never brief because there’s so much to share. I invite all members and prospective members to call or e-mail me with your thoughts or questions, I’m happy to hear from you. In addition to chatting with clowns in the states I’ve been in contact with members in our Latin Region, also India, South Africa, England and potential members from Bermuda and Mexico City. Thanks to Earl Temkin, our Marketing Director in charge of our website, WCA members from all over the world have access to our wonderful world of clowning. Earl has also overseen the revision of our WCA brochure. These new brochures contain more information than before and contain membership and insurance applications. They have also been printed in both English and Spanish.
I have hopes of meeting more of our WCA members in the next few months when I’ll be an instructor at California Clown Campin’ in San Bernardino, in Puerto Rico at “Payasos Hazme Reir” (Make Me Laugh, Clowns) and at the Southeast Clown Assn. convention (SECA) in Florida. I’m excited at the prospect of making more new clown friends at these events.
I’m pleased to provide you with a great up-date on the progress being made with our Council of Past-Presidents (COPP) Myron Jackson, WCA President 1997-1998, is our COPP Committee Chairman and is currently working with ten Past Presidents in creating a purpose statement, this will provide them with focus and direction. Myron and I have agreed on an overall goal for the COPP; combine WCA leadership knowledge and expertise then have the Council be available to provide input, when requested, by the current President and WCA Officers. We know a successful future depends not only in current strength and innovation but also in a strong and supportive foundation which is what our Council of Past Presidents can provide.
I’m happy to say that I continue to receive positive comments in regards to our “Clowning Around” publication. I hope everyone is enjoying the great photos and educational articles. If you have an article relative to your clowning experience and would like to share it with our membership, please let me know. Sharing our love for the “Art of Clowning” and learning from each other is one of the many benefits of being a member of a world class organization like WCA.
Please contact me with your thoughts, suggestions and ideas; I enjoy hearing from all WCA members and Clown Friends.
Bump-A-Nose and Keep on Smiling!!!
Aurora “BeBop”
