Dear WCA Members and Friends,
We have now entered a new decade and many of you have set new goals in your personal
clowning. The World Clown Association stands ready to be supportive of each of you, and
will continue to expand and stretch the educational horizons available through our
magazine Clowning Around. Recently we have begun to revamp our publication and
members will now see a new fresh look in our magazine. We are continuing to search for
the best possible educational articles to publish in this ten times per year publication.
Our website has and will continue to expand and not only offer information on our
organization, but more educational information. Currently we have a mounting list of
chapters available for you from Anita Thies book, The Joyful Journey of Hospital Clowning.
Additionally we have eight different caring clown articles or resources included on our
website. As we move forward we will be adding increasingly more historical and
educational information to our website, so continue to visit it frequently.
I look forward to seeing many friends and meeting new ones at our upcoming WCA April
convention in Winnipeg. This will be our second visit to Canada for one of our conventions.
(Besides United States hosted past conventions, our organization has also hosted
conventions in both England and Scotland. We are truly a World Clown Association. )
Without a doubt the highlight of our convention will be the presentations and performance
provided to us by Avner the Eccentric. This film and Broadway star will delight all those in
attendance at this historic gathering.
In 2011 our organization will be hosting our annual convention in New York City. This will be
the first international clown convention ever held in the Big Apple. Once the Winnipeg
convention is concluded we will begin offering more information on this upcoming event.
I want to thank the large number of persons that have communicated with me during my
term as President. It is refreshing to hear your ideas as well as learn of your
accomplishments. And, if you have any ideas for this website or our magazine, please
contact the editor or the website chairman with your input.
