Kids love Karate movies and this routine gives you a chance to shine as you show your expert Comedy Karate Mojo! Like all my contributions of routines in this magazine over the past 25 years this is an original routine and I hope you get some laughs with it. I give you the basics but you need to add the acting to make it funny.
What they see: Clown comes in proudly displaying new black belt – it’s a jumbo Santa belt! Next the funny person (that’s you!) says that a lot of skill and practice has gone into this super Karate stunt. Others break boards with a chop but for a real demonstration of skill this expert uses A BANNANA!!! Carefully bring out banana from case and reverently place it on a table or between the hands of a brave child,
Now your expert Karate acting really comes in… first act in a solemn manner then progressively get sillier. (hey, that is our job!) Do the Karate moves – – be safe! Be careful, keep your balance. But bring the hand up and then slowly bring it down and come to just the edge of the banana. DO this several times. The bring out a dark colored plate and slowly peal the banana to reveal that your expert Karate has “sliced” the banana!
How it is done: The slicing the banana gag is an old one – I just added an original routine so there is a reason for doing the slicing the banana gag. This turns a forgotten house hold stunt into a stage routine worthy of competition. Before the show you take a pin or needle and poke a hole in the side of the banana and then slide the pin up and down to cut the banana while it is still in the skin, un-pealed. Do this three times and you have three cuts.
Now go use your acting ability and Karate skills to make them laugh as you go bananas!
For an added gag or blow off clown #2 could come in and eat the pieces of banana as you take your bows and when you look over and the banana is gone – You then chase #2 off stage with Karate moves!
