BOOK YOUR HOTEL ROOMS
and be part of the convention for the whole week.

As your President and one who attends conventions, I have always found it beneficial to stay at the convention hotel, as I don’t want to miss anything, and lots always happens in and around the hotel outside of the timetable. And also, I know it helps the WCA keep down the costs of convention registrations.

The more we all use the hotel, the better hotel rates they offer us.

As the current WCA Alley Director, I came to this office with a lot of WCA experience – Regional Director, Ministry Director, Vice President, and first woman President for our historic first overseas convention in Bognor Regis, England.  I was WCA Clown of the Year in 2001-2002 and recently in 2018 received the WCA Lifetime Achievement Award.  I was privileged to be on staff at Clown Camp ® for over 25 years and teach some wonderful clown subjects.   I belong to two WCA alleys and love the fun and fellowship and educational experiences our alleys offer to our membership.  I have a lot of clowning experiences to share and now write a monthly newsletter for both our Alleys and our Regional Directors to give ideas and direction to these two entities who are directly in touch with all our amazing membership.  I have cleaned up our alley roster to make it current online and continue to work on ideas you wish to bring to the Executive Committee from your local clown experiences.  This year we were able to give 19 WCA e-memberships to new clowns developed in our alley clown schools.  Clowning as an art needs again to be supported by the public with more people wanting to be clowns, including our younger people, so we can continue to serve and care and bring laughter to a world that needs what we have to offer.   I would appreciate your vote for Alley Director of WCA in the coming election.

Cliff Hartmier

Hello Joeys, I am allowing my name to stand as the WCA 2020 Alley Director and your vote confidence is appreciated. I love the art of clowning and have been a member since the 80s. As some of my personal commitments have lessened somewhat, time will allow my participation as part of the leadership team of this fine association. Considering my wife’s involvement with the association, I am familiar with a lot of the aspects of WCA. I will also note that while my wife Deanna was starting her tenure as the 2013 – 2015 President, I was starting my tenure on the International Shrine Clown Association executive line which concluded in 2017 as a Past President . The main responsibility is to be the liaison between the members thru the alleys thru the regional Directors to the WCA Executive Team along with assisting during the annual convention. The greater the strength is in the alleys, the more opportunity there is to spread the joy of CLOWNING to the public.

Bonnie Corcia

Hi! My name is Bonnie Corcia I have been clowning since 1993. Originally from New Jersey, my husband and I have joyfully relocated to Palm Harbor, Florida.  My clown character is Bonky G Bird; the “G” stands for gorgeous because God made me that way. My clown journey started on a mission trip to Mexico in 1993. I have been on a mission since to spread the Gospel through the gift of clowning.

My clown pal Daffy Daffodil and I do Gospel clown ministry programs at local facilities. The most precious gift clowning has given me is the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life through smiles and laughter. The scripture my ministry is built on is Proverbs 17: 22. “A cheerful heart is like good medicine”.  Please consider me for the position of Chaplin on your World Clown Association board. I bring with me many years’ experience as a leader of many clown ministry teams. It is my joy to teach and share my experiences with anyone who has an ear to hear.

I would consider it an honor and a privilege to serve as Chaplin of the World Clown Association.

William Schober

My Name is William Schober ( Bill) and my clown name is Shobo.  I’ve been clowning for well over 25 years.  I’m a member of both WCA and COAI . and currently hold the position of WCA Mid-Atlantic Regional Director.
My 1st clown class was taught to me in a dance studio with 3 other people, where Shobo was born.  Originally a Hobo character, I just added an S to Hobo since my last name has a S.  Can’t actually remember when I haven’t clowned around.  I’m married and have five grown “kids” and have 3 grand sons. Years ago, I use to add my kids into my shows.  It’s great having twins daughters where you can do the “Ole disappearing act”.  I live in New Jersey but use work in Philly at a family business that was started in 1892 by my great grandfather, which makes me the 4th generation. Recently I have been working at a Brewery in Cape May NJ during the summer and Sub teaching at the local Elementary school.
In 2013 I was awarded “MACA Clownitarerian Award” for my work at Kid’s alley and other aspects of Clowning. I’m the elected Chaplain of the Mid Atlantic Clowns Asso. ( MACA) board  as well as elected president of our local Clown Alley called “Kapo’s gang “.  Each Month we have a alley meeting of which I run and also bring the education portion of the meeting to enhance their clowning skills.   Kapo’s gang entertains at a number of charity events throughout the year
A few years back,  I started a Clown Ministry Troupe called LAUGH Clown Ministry  ( Loving  All Under God’s House). Our web site is www.laughclownministry.com.  Ron “Shady” Mount , Carol “Pearl” Brozosky and I  love spreading God’s love through laughter.  We have preformed with a number of notable guest too, including Randy Christensen, Bubba Sikes, Pinky Garrett, and Angel Ocasio.  Laugh Clown ministry is growing every year.   A few years back we were invited to Brooklyn NY for a VBS program and have had a number of invites to churches all over NJ and Pa.  All Three of us have been to American Clown Academy a number of times ( Next year Ron and myself will be on staff) and we  attend the MACA Convention each year where we perform the Worship service.   I was honored to present the Worship service  at the COAI convention in Erie PA.  We also do “Caring clowning” visits at our Local Nursing home and hospital once a month. A few years back I got certified to become a Laughter yoga leader and have held several classes at our Clown Alley, home church, School teacher In-service days and will be doing a corporate event for AC Electric.  Laughter is really good for you.
My “Outside life” of Clowning, I’m the Chair of the Administrative council of my home church which I have attended since birth.  I love coaching different youth sports and have been an umpire for the local Little League. I enjoy my time with an organization called  Kid’s Alley.  Kid’s alley is an after school, Saturday Program for the Kids of Camden NJ. I also “know” a jolly ole elf named Santa who goes to the local School and on Christmas Eve travels to different homes. Most weekends you can find in at Great Adventure in Jackson NJ for their holiday in the Park.  I also really LOVE watching my grand kids grow and explore and hopefully my goofiness will rub off on them.  I enjoy traveling with my wife to the jersey Shore near Cape May and also to different parts of the world.  We even got to “Clown around” in Romania and Panama with E3 ministries based out of TX.
I’ve  teamed up with Ron “Shady” Mount to do more many  library and campground shows.  Our Show is Called “the Shobo and Shady Show” and your can find a lot of our routines and Pictures on our web site: http://shoboandshadyshow.weebly.com
Along with that, I actually started an LLC Company called Laughproductions LLC, to group together all the aspects of laughter I do..ie laughter yoga, Shobo Show, Da Billy show, Santa and Shobo and Shady show…Check out my web site for more details; http://laughproductionsllc.weebly.com/
Hope this give you a little inside to my life…
God Bless and Bump a nose
Randy Christensen
Thanks for considering my nomination for the upcoming Awards Director of the WCA.  I’ve been involved with WCA since the late 1980’s and am so appreciative of all the learning and opportunities that my involvement has provided. I’ve served in all levels of leadership over the past 30 years including the positions of WCA President and the 2018 Convention Coordinator. One of the roles of president-elect and past president is to edit and update the bylaws and policy manuals of the organization. I’ve been intimately involved with developing the current competition rules. In past years, as a competitor, I was honored to win “All-Around Clown” at two consecutive conventions and consequently earned the title “WCA Master Clown.” Because of my experience, I would aim at communicating clearly all competition expectations and work towards providing quality competitions that encourage and honor all competitors. I appreciate your support.
Kathy Keaton

I’ve been clowning for over forty years and hospital and therapeutic clowning is my passion.
I began clowning as a young military wife and immediately began clowning for military patients and their families in hospitals worldwide.
I have been working as a paid clown at San Angelo Community Medical Center for 16 years, working with patients of all ages, as well as staff and family members.  I have also worked at our Regional Cancer Treatment center leading laughter yoga classes for patients, survivors, caregivers and anyone else feeling stressed and needing to laugh. I worked for Triumph Health Care, an ICU facility and our children’s cancer clinic at Shannon Hospital.  I have volunteered for every non-profit in my community including the family shelter and numerous support groups.
I was a volunteer as a person as well as a clown for Hospice of San Angelo for over 15 years for children and family members and served on their board for many years. As a person I was a facilitator for grief healing for 15 years. Up until 3 years ago I clowned for children’s birthday parties, delivered singing telegrams and for 30 years did a school presentation on Dental Care. Last year I wrote a book – “Prescription Humor” that is full of inspirational stories I have collected from my hospital experiences.  There is also a section from staff, doctors and administrator of how they have observed humor make a positive change alongside traditional medical care.  The final section of my book is for the reader “why” humor and laughter are so beneficial to our health and well – being.
I am a member of The Texas Clown Association and have been a board member as well as the chairman for their 2017 Clown Conference

I am a member of The Association of Applied and Therapeutic Humor (aath), the leader in presenting studies and research on the health benefits of humor and laughter and have worked as a committee member and done many presentations to their international membership.
I am one of only about 50 Certified Humor Professionals in the nation and participated in a 3 years study to earn the certification through the Humor Academy (aath)

I retired last year, after 20 years as the Membership Director of our Chamber of Commerce.  My goal now is to speak nationwide (in clown) on the health benefits of humor and laughter and promote my book.

With my many years of experience and my desire to make a difference I think I have a lot to offer in this position and would be happy to help mentor, guide and motivate others willing to learn and grown.

Donald Carpenter
I started magic when I was 9 years old and started clowning when I was 11 years old. At the age of 13, I met Hal “Shorty” Horton, a Professional Clown with accolades such as International Clown of The year, National Clown for the Leukemia Society & much more.
Hal took me on as an apprentice and he taught me the Art of Clowning, including how to properly apply my makeup, slapstick, how to properly approach children and the use of props.
I became a Professional Magic Clown at the age of 14. I was the youngest member to join Alley 107 of the Clowns of America, which later became Clowns of America International.
Over the years I became involved with the Lucille Ball Community Theater in Jamestown, NY, where I assisted in Audio/Visual and Set Construction. I was also a Stage Hand, Actor, and Prop Handler. I was also a Magic Consultant for the production of Damn Yankees at the Hartford Stage Company, in Hartford, CT.
Although I never stopped performing, I reopened my entertainment business in 2015 and I now apply my talents to enhance events while making them fun and memorable.
In March 2018 I was elected to the position of the American South East Regional Director for the World Clown Association. Supporting, promoting the art of clowning and spreading joy and laughter, using any one of my talents, has been my passion since I was 14 years old.  I would welcome the opportunity to serve in this position for another term.

Rob Bowker

Edmund Khong

Edmund Khong has always been passionate about clowning and clown education. 15 years ago, in 2004, when many WCA clowns came to Singapore to teach at Clown Camp Singapore and he was instantly mesmerized and realized the great positive impact clowning can do for the community. The next year, as a young clown, he came to Clown Camp 2005 at Wisconsin and is grateful to have come full circle, having served as Staff at Clown Camp 2019.
His clowning work is highly influenced by both Asian and Western styles, with a strong belief in promoting a positive global clown culture. An advocate of life-long learning, he embraces the need for clowning to constantly evolve to meet the requirements of this fast-changing world. He is Southeast Asia’s first-ever WCA Master Clown and has served as the Southeast Asian Regional Director for the last 2 years and hope to continue to serve the members and WCA clown alleys in this region. He can read and converse in a variety of languages including English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
