ended up in the hospital for almost three weeks in serious condition.
My granddaughter had a major allergy attack at the hotel and was sick
for much of our stay. Since I was in charge of the sound for most of
the competitions, a judge in others, a helper to keep everything moving,
responsible for checking on my folks, responsible for my granddaughter
I expected.
and topping it all off, helping my parents after their car broke down
in the parking lot for the entire week….the trip was a bit more than
Of course, add the fact that we were trying to accommodate over
200 people and answer to their needs, it was definitely an eye opener
for me. It made me think about what we can all do to make things
smoother. How can we help as WCA members when we are at a
convention? I never really gave it much thought until I became an
officer. Can we offer help to people in the office? Can we reach out to
our competition director, our sound person, our decoration committees?
Can we run errands, help move equipment, help with new clowns, etc?
Can we clean up messes? Some of our members didn’t clean up after
themselves, I was a little surprised by this. Instead of pointing fingers
or complaining, what can we do to make things better? I actually ask
myself this almost everyday about all kinds of things.
I am also glad that we are returning to the same hotel next year.
Why? Because this will give us another chance to make things even
better. We had a few glitches and I, for one, want to make sure that
we have covered those glitches for a perfectly smooth run or at least
a better one. We had so many positives, from great entertainment, to
great classes and vendors, but what can we do to make it even better?
I want to thank all of you, at this time, for being the amazing clowns
and family entertainers that you are. I am amazed at the talent of our
members. But more than talent, I know some amazing hearts in this
group. I remind myself everyday about how blessed I am to have found
the clowning in my heart. I remind myself everyday to try to remain
positive and serving to others. Big clown hugs to all of you,
