bodies lying about. Our waterparks are up against
our small mountains and beautiful lake filled with
animals. I pick up every piece of balloon that has
popped and put them in the trash immediately.
5. Be aware of your little clients. We have to plan for
how a child will carry a balloon to a boat and keep
it. I give them balloon scraps to tie their balloon to
their body or the boat so it won’t be released into
the lake.
6. I do waterproof tattoos. These are pool and filter
safe, they are my biggest profit maker on tips. They
are LOVED. I also make balloon rockets in the pool.
The first child to bring me the deflated 260 balloon
back wins a little prize. Coconuts provides free ice
cream coupons and I keep little toys available in
my kit. Littles get to compete on one side, big kids
on the other. Otherwise the big kids will overtake
the littles.
7. I do NOT facepaint at a pool, it is useless. I tried
painting kids that said they were leaving and then
they would jump in one more time. Don’t bother :)
8. Know what you want to bid on a multi-day and
multi-month job. I realize most of us make $100-150
an hour, but this is normally for contracted jobs,

one or two times only. If you are going to work 30-
60 days in a summer at one place, be prepared to
ask yourself, how much do I need to make an hour
and how much can I make up in tips. This is very
important. Some of my days are only $25 in tips and
some are over $200. You have to take the good with
the bad. It is a risk you must be willing to take.
9. I cannot stress enough to have a huge sign that
says PARENTS must accompany your child. This is
important for your personal insurance reasons and
tipping. My tips are what keeps me working because
of the deals I make with multi-day employers. If
you become a babysitting service for those six
children that hang at your table all day, you will
not make enough money to work. VERY important.
Hold strong to your rule. My lax behavior cost me
an entire hot day at the beginning of this summer.
