Colony Clowns, Inc. were thrilled to hear their Al-
ley’s name called at the WCA Convention Banquet in
Orlando. As they came forward most were teary eyed
because this award meant a lot to them.
Colony Clowns are located in Melbourne Florida in
a community called Indian River Colony Club. This is
a senior military retirement community. They have
worked very hard to become a 501c3 group of clowns.
The average age of their group is 60 - 70 years young,
however they do have two that are close to 90. They all
are experiencing challenges in their health, but find
when they are in clown, their problems seem to go
away for a short time. There are over 20 active mem-
bers and 15 social members which take part in most

meetings. It’s hard to count the hours that this group
gives to clowning, but here is a list of the basic ones.
1. Monthly Directors’ meetings to talk and prepare
for the monthly training meeting.
2. Monthly training meeting for all clowns and new
members.
3. Entertain monthly at Joe’s Club (Brevard County
Alzheimer's Adult Day Care).
4. Entertain monthly at Zon Retirement Center.
5. Do a 2-hour Red Nose Reader program on the sec-
ond Saturday of each month in Woodside Park.
6. Entertain at Faith Lutheran senior day care
monthly.
