The Villages Clown Alley 179
Celebrated
International Clown Week
Annemarie "Ravioli" Prioriello
International Clown Week in The Villages, Florida is always celebrated in a
big way! We always include the Proclamation for International Clown Week
being read by the Mayor of the town of Lady Lake, wearing a red nose, of course!
This tradition has been going on for 17 years now!
During the week this year, we kicked off our celebration by hosting Camp
Villages for the grandchildren and their grandparents in The Villages, FL. We
spent a couple of hours face painting, doing glitter tattoos, and making balloons
for them. In addition, we helped them to try to juggle and spin plates. There
were many minute by minute type games set up around the room for them to
try their luck! Each child was given a lanyard with their name on a button at
the bottom. With each game they played they won pins, which were added to the
lanyard as the morning moved on! We also set up a photo booth for the children
to have their grandparents take some pictures for their scrapbooks. Lots of great
memories were made to share! Before leaving, we sang and danced with them,
and on their way out we sent them home with bubble wands to play with later!
It was so much fun for the children, their grandparents and the clowns! What a
great way to kick off International Clown Week!
The rest of the week found us on all five entertainment town squares and
areas around The Villages each day! We did walk arounds and made balloons
and told some one liners! The "big kids" loved us too! Of course, no festival in
The Villages is complete without a golf cart parade!
